The Purpose:
My client, Charmaine, came to me with a fantastic story. Charmaine is a dietitian in DC, Washington, and her goal was to explain how a healthy diet can exist within every culture. At Talk+Tell, we worked with Charmaine to develop a PR campaign that would bring awareness to her story and business.
The Challenge:
Talk+Tell worked with Charmaine to develop a multi-level PR campaign. Our goal was to get her story covered by National media and to drive the traffic that the PR campaign would generate back to her business. To do this, we started by publishing an article that summarized her story and published it on her website. We then pitched her story to a few national media outlets. Huffington Post picked up the story instantly. I then worked closely with their Editor for over three months to further develop the article.
The Result:
The result of Charmaine’s article went beyond anyone’s expectations. The article went viral and had over one million reads within 24 hours. The Huffington Post’s Chief Editor also made it her top articles to read of the week. Other media outlets started taking noticed and shared Charmaine’s article to their audience as well.
Charmaine’s website and business received a boom of traffic and referrals. People, media, and influencers wanted my client’s opinion after reading the article. Yale University even invited Charmaine to speak to 700 of its students. Plus media and boards asked her to be a guest on their shows.
It has been almost a year since this article was published, and we still see the results come in. The article is now nominated as a finalist for a James Beard Award!
(Huffington Post told us that this is a tremendous honor!)
Getting the media’s attention and getting your story viral takes time and hard work. But putting in the hard work is 100% worth it!
