Self-Publishing Books That Sell Like Mad
Talk+Tell
The self-publishing industry has always focused on one thing: the mass production of books. However, this cookie-cutter approach doesn’t equal success. Instead, for most authors, it also doesn’t mean money in their pockets.
To self-publish a successful book, you need more than a fancy cover and edit. You need a custom approach where the cover design speaks to your audience and where the edits insert the reader into your story.
+ MOST OF ALL YOU NEED BOOK MARKETING AND PR SO YOUR BOOK CAN BE FOUND.
You poured yourself into your book, and it deserves to be read. But how are people going to find it? By having a book marketing and PR strategy. But all too often, this can come as an afterthought. Do not make this mistake!
Most publishing agencies will expect the author to figure out book marketing and PR on their own. This mindset has trained authors to not incorporate PR and marketing into their book production, which is the biggest mistake an author could make.
If you ignore PR and marketing no one outside of your friends and family will read your book.
Every single successful business, in every industry, has marketing and PR behind them to help gain traction with their audience. So, why don’t authors?
At Talk+Tell, we are here to shake up the self-publishing industry by inserting PR and marketing into the whole production process of publishing a book. Why? So you can make more sales and become a bestseller.
You put your heart, soul, and self into your story. You know your book is fantastic. You know people are going to fall in love and feel inspired when they read it. But first, your book needs to be found. This is where Talk+Tell comes in.
We want to see you making a ton of book sales through self-publishing.
When it comes to self-publishing your book, we take a no fluff and no cookie-cutter approach. Therefore, our commitment is simple: we ensure every book that comes through our doors sells and gets read.
No book should be collecting dust (whether it be digital or real dust). Our goal is to make sure your book reaches readers and is loved, shared, and talked about for both the short and long term.

+ WHY CHOOSE TALK+TELL TO SELF-PROMOTE AND PUBLISH YOUR BOOK?
Talk+Tell is not your average publisher. We are a boutique self-publisher and take a custom approach to self-publishing an author’s book. Our most significant difference is that we design publishing plans that fit within an author’s budget without HUGE overpriced fees. In addition, every publishing plan we create incorporates PR and marketing that is customized to your book. From the very beginning, we create beautiful books that sell and get read. We also welcome authors to work with us at any stage of their book.
Before choosing to work with us, it is essential to know the four main types of publishing options out there.
1. Traditional Publishing
Traditional publishing is where the company will purchase and own the rights to an author’s book. In return, the author will get a small percentage of the book’s sales and sometimes even an advance. The pro of working with a traditional publisher is that they pay for the production of the book. However, for first-time authors, the traditional publisher will only promote the book for the first few months after the launch date. If the author’s book doesn’t sell within those early months, then it is left behind and forgotten. Another con is that the author will no longer own their book and will have no creative control.
2. Hybrid Publishing
Hybrid publishing is where the authors pay a reduced price to the company to publish their book. In most cases, the cost to work with a hybrid publisher is the same as paying a self-publishing company. The only difference between a hybrid and a self-publisher is that the author will share their profit with the hybrid publisher. The pro is that authors who work with a hybrid publisher will get to divide the responsibilities with them. A con is that authors must use their own resources to hire public relations and marketing experts to generate book buzz. In addition, authors must always go through the hybrid publisher to make any small or large change to their book, which can have added costs. Even if the author could do it themselves.
3. Self-Publishing
Self-publishing is where the author pays to get their books published. The pro is that the author will retain 100% creative control and profits. The con is that, unfortunately, there are companies out there that like to scam authors by mass-producing books with no quality control. At Talk+Tell, we ensure our authors don’t have this experience by giving them a personal touch and only accepting books we also believe in and know will be successful.
4. Amazon
Amazon started in the book business and has grown to help authors successfully self-publish their books all on their own. Amazon offers a do-it-yourself approach to self-publishing. The pro is that it is an excellent service for authors with little to no budget. The con is that there is no quality control and no expert advice. The majority of authors who take a DIY approach will not see success. The key to publishing a book that sells is to ensure it is produced to the highest standards.
